From Vogue Hommes Internationale. How can one not be fascinated by these photos of high fashion and steampunky, leather hoods? Both represent a certain type of fetish that excites desire, but I am not sure I have ever seen them together before in this kind of configuration. In some ways, the reduction of the body to a mere surface through the use of the hood in some ways seems perfectly in line with the commodification of fashion, which obscures interiority by drawing attention to the surface of the body while, at the same time, defining it.
These photos are also remarkable for the seemingly contradictory juxtaposition of two radically different brands of masculinity. On one hand, the hoods make the men look like tough, almost robotic or Borg-like creatures, but the fashion and body language makes the men look dandyesque and perhaps somewhat fey.
